Christmas Card 2014

I was trying to find a colorful idea for a Christmas Card and what is the most colorful - Glitter.

Placed the 2” tape on white card stock and placed the center of the Snowflake Template at bottom of tape and traced pattern onto tape film. Then removed template and cut film of tape along lines with blade leaving film on tape – do not cut all the way through tape, just the film. Repeated this four times. Removed tape film of outline of shapes and applied Silver Medal glitter onto tape. Removed film of pattern and applied Cardinal Red glitter. Took off rest of tape film of pattern except center and applied Hunter Green glitter. Removed film of center and applied Dessert Sand glitter. Placed pattern of 2 shapes on top and bottom of green card stock. Stamped phrase from Stampin’ Up White Christmas Stamp Set on Glitter Paper using Black Pigment Ink and embossed with Glassy Embossing Powder. Cut out and placed on left center of green card with raised foam glue dots. Used Heartfelt Creations Petite Poinsettia 2 smallest flowers and stamped with Gold pigment Ink on Red card stock. Embossed with Chameleon Embossing Powder. Cut out using Spellbinder Poinsettia Die Cuts. Glued together and placed on right center of card with glue dots.

I will be entering this card into the Quick Quotes Friday Challenge for December

Using Quick Quote Page Kits

I used a different quote that was in the layout that matched the event and I used a piece of white scrap cut in arrow shape to fit the design of the layout. Also used letter stickers found in my stock to title the event. I really like how these pages turned out and highlighted the photos of the event. Quick Quotes has great design packages with different ways to use them, you don't have to follow the directions exactly.

Their layouts can be purchased at http://www.shopquickquotes.com/Default.asp

Using Page Kits

I love page kits but finding most of the time I have too many pictures for them. I have found if I really like a page to buy extra pages in the packet especially in case I make a mistake. In these layouts I am glad I did because it helped make 2 extra pages with the same layout to coordinate the same event.
I like a few companies and one of those is Paper loft below are pictures of a kit that I used but had too many pictures for. I took some extra pages from one of their paper packs I purchased and since I did not have the exact patterned paper to match I used a paper from my stock that match the corresponding paper. In the pack was extra quotes and pictures which I used some of for the extra pages.

Single Page Layout

I will be submitting this page to Quick Quotes Design Team

I needed an idea for one page layout to work with another page but two different events for my son's Boy Scout Album.

Outlined the pictures and orange paper using the Lea France Honey Comb Template with white erasable pencil and then cut them to that shape. Used the template to mark the Fancy Free striped Paper where the orange paper is to be placed using small regular pencil marks and marked the orange paper with small regular pencil marks to where the pictures would sit. Glued down pictures with regular adhesives hiding pencil marks. Glued orange paper with pictures onto Fancy Free Striped paper covering pencil marks – any pencil marks not completely covered were erased. Used piece of sponge to sponge coconut ink onto center of orange paper. Also Inked Fleur De Lis chipboard with Blue Jeans ink and edges with red hot ink – this helps Boy Scout symbol standout and coordinates with corresponding page which has a lot of red/blue colors. Inked chipboard signs with orange slice, lemonade, and soft sage inks to help bring out colors of striped paper. Tied pieces of cord on signs and placed letter stickers on signs. Glued down chipboard with glue dots.

Get Well Card

I will be submitting this card to Quick Quotes Design Team.

I made this card for a friend/coworker who is sick and has been in hospital and rehab for a few months.
Cut the White card stock for card base- folded to make 5.5" x 4.25" card. Cut 2 pieces of cloud paper to fit front and inside of card – glued in place. Picked angel and frame design on Gypsy from Christmas Cartridge for angel and Fancy Frames Cartridge for Frame. With Cricut cut out angel and shadow of wings from gold shimmer paper. Cut out wings and angel shawdow from glitter paper. Glued glitter wings on gold wing shadow. Glued Gold angel on glitter angel shawdow with adhesive but also used a few mini glue dots (only thing found to maintain hold on glitter paper). Glued angel onto wings with mini glue dots. Used Spectrum Noir markers to highlight face of angel. Cut White shimmer paper using Cricut for larger frame. Cut blue shimmer paper with Critcut for detailed frame. Used inside of blue frame to outline opening on white shimmer paper using a pencil and cut opeing out with blade and erased pencil lines. Glued blue frame to edges of opening on white shimmer paper. Placed Stickle along inside of blue frame- let dry. With raised glue foam dots on back of white shimmer paper placed on cloud paper on front of card. Then glued angel in center of opening. Difficult to see in picture but frame is popped out from angel – making angel stand out on clouds.
For inside of card - Printed out quote from computer onto Laser Vellum Paper and cut out using Sizzix Frame die with Big Shot machine. Glued on inside of card on cloud paper.

Using Glitter with Stamps

I recently submitted this creations to the Heartfelt Creation Design Team as an entry. Website: http://www.heartfeltcreations.us/

I stamped the light house and birds stamp from Heartfelt Creations with Black pigment ink on Ultra Smooth Premium White Card Stock and embossed with Clear Glossy Embossing powder. I then colored both of them with Spectrum Noir markers and highlighted with Spectrum Noir pencils. I used Spectrum Noir Paper stumps soaked in Gamsol Blending solution to blend the pencil coloring with the markers to give more of a blended color. I used Sizzix Oval Template Die and cut out the light house and hand cut out the birds. I then cut a 6”x8.5” sheet of Plain White Card Stock with scoring at 4.25” and folded to make a card. I then covered the front of the card with 2” Sookwang 2 sided Tape. I then took off top cover and cut an oval shape using the Sizzix template die (Same size as used on Light house) and placed back on tape where I wanted to place the Light house. I then sprinkled Pumpkin glitter around the circle and then sprinkled the sunflower/apricot glitter over the rest of the tape with filling in some holes with the pumpkin glitter to match the sunset colors I used on the Light House stamp. I cut a larger oval shape on the Aqua mulberry Paper with the Sizzix template dies. Using a paint brush I wet the edges of the mulberry paper and tore the edges giving it a feather/tore look. I then glued the light house onto the mulberry paper. Removed the top covering still on tape and placed the light house on the card surrounded by glitter. I used Fiskars clear saying stamp with black pigment ink and embossed with Glossy Embossing Powder. Wet edges with paint brush and tore edges to give a feather/tore look. I placed raised glue dots on back of mulberry paper and placed below light house on card to give a raised look. I then placed three stacked mini glue dots on the back of the birds and placed them on the card around the light house.

Using Acrylic

I submitted this creation to Heartfelt Creations Design Team entry.
I used 6x4 ½ Acrylic Sheet for the front of the card and same size of White Card Stock for inside/back of card. I connected the Acrylic Sheet and White Card stock with a Blue Marble paper (using 3n1 glue to not show through acrylic sheet) with the blue covering half of the acrylic sheet and half the white sheet. Then glued the grass paper onto the white sheet. Used the Elizabeth Tree die on wood design paper to cut out two trees. Then used the cloud shape Elizabeth die to cut out pieces of leaves for the trees from Lt/Dk Green Paper. Then glued one tree on front of card and the other on the back of the acrylic sheet to cover exactly where the front tree is – used 3n1 glue on both trees. Glued down green paper for tree leaves on both trees overlaying light and green paper covering all limbs of trees. Took a white flower sticker from my stock and highlighted it with a Stampin’ Up marker. Colored the adhesive part of the green leaves on flower to help it show through on the acrylic and placed on front of acrylic sheet. Placed a white flower sticker with no leaves highlighted with marker on back of acrylic. Used the Ellentina Cutting Butterfly and Dragonfly dies and cut the tin can and wax paper. Colored them with Spectrum Noir markers. Glued the tin butterfly and tin dragonfly onto tree on front of card with mini glue dots. Glued the wax butterfly onto tree on back side of front of card with mini glue dots. Stamped the Stampabilities Stamp saying and Stampin’ Up Thank You using Stazon Black Ink on White Raised Paper Card Stock. Used a flower shaped Shapez Xyron Die to cut out the Thank you and colored the spaces of stamp with Stampin’ Up marker. Drew a cloud shape around Stampabilities saying with pencil using Print Working Design Cloud Stencil and cut it out. Distressed both sayings with Quick Quotes Chalk Ink and glued on inside of card. By using the acrylic you can see the inside of the card from the front.

Embellishing Flowers

Quick Quotes Blog

I also submitted this to Heartfelt Creations Design Team Entry. It is also a winner on Quick Quotes Friday Challenge.

I enjoyed working on this card but it had some frustrations with it. To make the flowers I used some techniques that I learned at the Quick Quotes Class I attended in Oaks PA in May 2014. For the small flowers I folded coffee filters and cut circles out of it and placed a brad in the center. I then folded and mushed up one layer at a time till I got the shape I was looking for then distressed them with different color Quick Quote Chalk inks. The larger pink flower was another technique used at the same class, where you take any circle shape cardstock and put adhesive on it and work ribbon around it and place a jewel sticker in center. I had trouble getting the ribbon to stay stuck on the cardstock. I have to try different adhesive next time. That was one frustration. I used the Stampin' Up Secret garden die to cut the leafs which I distressed with a Quick Quotes Chalking Ink using a blender pen. I used a light brown paper embossed with Sizzix Big Shot Stampin' Up Textured Impressions Woodgrain folder for the background. For Dark brown window frame I used the Heartfelt Creations Decorative Chateau Gate Custom Die (HCD 718) with some scrap cardstock I had. I used the Heartfelt Creations Grand Portal Precut stamp (HPC 3442) for the detail of the open window frame on clear transparency using Black pigment ink embossed with glossy powder and then cut using the Chateau Gate custom Die to cut it out - it was difficult getting the ink to stay on the transparency and to get the die to cut it without the ink chipping off. That was the second frustration. For the picture in the window I used a Stampin' up 2005 stamp and colored with General's Kimberly watercolor pencils which I cut and glued underneath the frame with the clear windows attached so they could open. Even though this was difficult to do I feel it turned out great. I hope you enjoy.

Tear It Up

Quick Quotes Blog

I saw this challenge at Quick Quotes and could not wait to do it. I love to tear paper especially with beach scenes. I have a friend with a birthday coming up so I came up with this idea. I took some of my scrap marble tan paper and tore edges using tearing tool from creative memories and water. I layered the papers then attached layered torn water paper. Placed these layers over a sheet of sunset paper. I placed raised glue dots under the torn paper to raise it up to look like waves and layered sand. I used Quick Quote Chalk inks (biscotti/coconut)to highlight the tore edges of sand and water papers. I used Paper frosting from Shoestring to make the sand around the Happy Birthday sign. I used real and store bought shells around the Happy Birthday to help it stand out and I love shells. I try to use them in almost all my beach cards/pages. The Happy Birthday is a stampin' up stamp in color box silver pigment ink with chameleon embossing powder. I used Lin & Lene Design Dolphin Die Cut for the dolphin, highlighted the dolphin with Quick Quote Chalk inks (cool miner/Feather Grey). I popped the dolphin out of the ways with 3D square adhesive. I love how this card turned out and can't wait until my friend receives it. Perfect card for the start of the summer season.

Stamp It Up!!!

This was a difficult design to come up with but I like how it turned out. I used techniques and items that I learned and picked up at Scrapbook expo in Oaks PA a few weeks ago. I had a lot of fun with this. I used the Butterfly Pivot Card Cutting Die on pick card stock of a standard card size. Then used the die for the blue/purple card stock to cover the inside and outside of card. I used the butterfly dies that came with the set on cloudy velum which I used the quick quote chalks and decorated the velum. I love these inks. I am learning different ways to use them all the time. I also used a blending pen with the chalk inks to distress the cutout butterflies of the card. I used the heartfelt flower stamps colored with spectrum nor markers for the flowers on the inside and outside of the card. Used the die cuts to cut out the flowers. I used the Ellentina Cutting dies on the tin can to cut out the dragonflies which I colored with spectrum nor markers giving them a bright color. The quotes and the moth are stamped with glue and glitter used to highlight the stamps. This was a technique I learned at the Scrapbook Expo from Rubber Café. I used some frames I cut out from the Cricut/Gypsy to edge the card and to highlight the quotes. I used the glitter tape from Walmart to outline the edges. I hope everyone enjoys this card.
